Conlin’s Furniture is a regional furniture chain located across the Dakotas, Montana, Wyoming, and Minnesota. The first store opened in Williston, North Dakota in 1937 and soon expanded. The company is headquartered in Billings, Montana; however, has its main distribution center and significant corporate operations in Bismarck.
Conlin’s arrived in Bismarck upon purchasing Reff’s Furniture in 1955. Since then, Conlin’s had two separate locations in downtown Bismarck before relocating to Gateway Mall in 2004, adding to the flux of retailer migration from downtown. Conlin’s has since relocated into a building on the corner of Broadway Avenue & 18th Street, barely five years since last relocating to Gateway Mall.
The downtown building that housed Conlin’s Furniture for most of its tenure was built in 1900 to house Webb Brothers Department Store. When Webb Brothers closed in 1945, the building housed Sears before Conlin’s Furniture and now houses Zimmerman’s Furniture.
